KINESIS

A State of Burberry in Motion

THE ASK

Develop a transformative denim collection for an established luxury brand utilizing cotton textiles and performance technology detailed by the work of Cotton Incorporated.

MEET THE TEAM

MY ROLE

As team manager, I delegated tasks based on my member’s skillsets, ensured timeliness & quality, completed technical flats, developed CLO3D garments, rendered 3D spaces, and co-authored the script for our final presentation.

PROCESS

PROCESS

CONCEPT

The Kinesis line is designed for the modern man, who embraces change, and instigates growth in himself. Juxtaposing the brand’s iconic knight logo against a red rose balances ideas of strength & softness, heritage & progression, and the past & the future.

DESIGN PROCESS

SKETCHES

We began with 30 total sketches which were then narrowed down to a 8 look collection by our guest critic from the industry.

TECHNICAL FLATS

Next, we created technical flats using Adobe Illustrator to add color, fabrication, trims, and details to the items in our collection.

CLO-3D

Lastly, we utilized CLO-3D technology to render our final collection in the software, complete with accurate fabric weights, swatches, trims, and hardware.

SPECIFICATIONS

Next, we created a detailed tech pack for specifications in design, followed by line sheets, cost sheets, and an assortment plan. These specifications proved how crucial the touchpoint is between design and merchandising which forced my team to make thoughtful decisions about the materials, colorways, and product allocation of our line.

MARKETING

Brand Identity

Compelling visuals to impart mood, theme, and concept.

Burberry X Cotton Inc.

Detailing transformative textile engineering used within the collection to enhance performance and wear.

MUSE + PHILANTHROPY

Our muse, Formula 1 motorsport racer Sir Lewis Hamilton, heads his own organization Mission 44 uplifting youth in disadvantaged communities. Uplifting his work along with a partnership with adult recovery organization Red Rose Recovery, we designed “helmet” hats of which 20% of the proceeds directly benefit these organizations. A new Kinesis helmet was designed for Hamilton’s upcoming race at the 2024 British Grand Prix.

THE OUTCOME

My team was selected as the Cotton Incorporated Scholarship winner due to the hard work we put into our collection. This was one of the most challenging experiences of my college career, and I am so proud of the final product. This course developed my skills in merchandising strategy, concept development, and technical design which I will carry into my future roles within the industry.
